Author Frank McCourt at Akateeminen kirjakauppa

Here is Frank McCourt, authour of "Angela's Ashes", "T'is", & "Teacher Man" signing books at Akateeminen kirjakauppa in Helsinki Finland.
Before he signed books, he was interviewed which made for a funny and entertaining discussion. I got my book signed and took many photos which I will be uploading to Flickr soon.
I have one complaint about the bookstore. They don't do one thing to make it easy for people to gather and listen to the authors. They don't move any of the furniture whatsoever. So, people are squeezed into these narrow aisles. Then, when it is time to form a queue for the signing, people just mash together from these different aisle instead of making one line. There are no guide ropes and minimal organization. It sucks. The need to make more of an effort when they have authors come in. They need to move some of those behemouth book tables so that people can fit. They need to direct people into one line. Most importantly, they need to order and display enough books so that people don't have to run all over the store trying to find a copy of the books. It is quite ridiculous. Do they want sales or not? I don't get it. It is as if they started doing this yesterday and nobody has a clue on how to organize such a thing. Bloody irritating... Posted by Picasa
